One of the reasons that Tucson made the list of America's Best Cities was due to our great recreational programs. COVID restrictions sidelined many recreational activities last year. But there is good news for parents. The Tucson afterschool program KIDCO is back. And they opened registration just last weekend. Time to sign your little Johnny or Susie up for a full year of fun!
Tucson Afterschool Program 2021/2022
What is KIDCO?
Tucson Parks and Recreation runs the KIDCO afterschool program in the cafeteria of the Borton Magnet School. It lasts for the entire school year. This provides a safe, supervised place for school children to gather after school ends until 6 pm. They offer fun games and activities, crafts, sports, homework help, and special activities throughout the year. Space is limited and only available on a first-come/first-served basis. As you can imagine, these spots fill up fast. So, the sooner you sign up, the better.
Registration Info
This Tucson afterschool program costs $500 per child for the entire year. That ends up being around $50 per month per child. Register right now online via EZEEreg.com. You may also register via phone by calling the Tucson Parks and Recreation Department at (520) 791-4877 or the Borton Magnet School at (520) 225-1000.
For those families in need of financial assistance, discount programs are available. This cuts the cost down to $250 for the year per child. But you must apply for the discount before you register. Applicants must meet income restrictions to qualify. Visit the Parks and Recreation Department's website to find out more about the discount program.
