Earlier this month, I told you about how Tucson made the top 20 of America's Best Cities list. One of the reasons why is because we truly care so much about our community. The start of the new school year lurks just around the bend (August 5th). The cost of school supplies sometimes feels a bit overwhelming. If you factor in more than one student in your household, that means a huge dent in your household's budget. But the Tucson School District wants to help. They will be holding their 2021 Tucson Back to School Bash for Ward 4 tomorrow, July 28th.
What: 2021 Tucson Back to School Bash
Where: Tucson City Council Ward 4 Offices (8123 E Poinciana Dr)
When: Wednesday, July 28th, 2021 from 4 pm to 6 pm
2021 Tucson Back to School Bash
The school district has 750 backpacks stuffed full of school supplies for the new year ready to give away for those who show up at the Ward 4 offices on July 28th. In keeping with social distancing guidelines (and for public safety), organizers ask guests to remain in their cars. Volunteers and staff will bring backpacks directly to you. Simply pop the trunk. No contact. 100% safe.
They highly suggest that you come as early as possible. This free giveaway in the 2021 Tucson Back to School Bash only lasts as long as supplies do. This event is first-come/first-served only. We usually see a huge crowd. So, again, plan on lining up early to secure a pack.
Afterschool Program Registration Still Open
Speaking of the new school year, registration for the KIDCO afterschool program is still open. Discounts are available for those who qualify. Visit the Tucson Parks and Recreation Department's website to sign your child up today.
